Removing moss.

How to clean mossy surfaces and walls.

It’s nice when a garden is green. But weathering effects garden paths, balconies, decking, concrete and stone. Given that this also increases the risk of someone slipping, you should definitely clean these surfaces regularly.

Here you can find out how to effortlessly remove moss and algae with a high-pressure washer.

We recommend the following for removing moss:

Removing moss.

Use the correct accessories.

To remove moss and algae, you have to use a rotary nozzle. This is a very powerful cleaning method. You should therefore take care not to damage any pavement in a poor condition. As a result, we recommend testing the rotary nozzle in a small area at first. We would advise against using a rotary nozzle on wooden surfaces. Instead, we recommend using a fan jet to clean these surfaces.

When cleaning a pool, you should also maintain a safe distance and take care not to damage the pool liner.

For this reason, do not aim the water jet perpendicular to the surface at full power straightaway. Instead aim it at a 45° angle or shallower, this will flush water underneath the moss and lift it off. Tip: Slowly increase the impact pressure of the jet by reducing the distance until you have found the right level.

Then simply flush the moss away from the surface at lower pressure.

Don’t forget protection.

Wear protective glasses during use because small stones and particles can be hurled upwards. For this reason, also make sure that other people, especially children, stay clear. Also remember to wear sturdy shoes.

Is the surface only slightly mossy or dirty? Then use your high-pressure washer together with the Bosch DELUXE patio cleaner. Its rotating nozzles are housed in a protective enclosure. The brushes are not designed for cleaning but instead prevent dirt from being thrown around and splashed onto other objects such as the walls of your house. For this reason, do not exert any pressure on the Bosch DELUXE patio cleaner, but simply let it glide smoothly over the surface. Enjoy getting rid of that moss!

Cleaning a rain gutter.

How to flush leaves and dirt out of a rain gutter.

Is rainwater trickling down in front of your windows? Then it’s clear that the rain gutter is clogged. To enable the water to drain away and to prevent your facade from being damaged as a result of overflowing gutters, you should clean all rain gutters at least once a year.

Clean a rain gutter and drainpipe with a high-pressure washer

Safety first.

Before cleaning, the first and most important question is: Can you reach your rain gutters with ease? If the building is a multi-storey building or the rain gutter is hard to reach, please be sure to have the cleaning done by a professional company.

You can easily do it yourself if the roof is low enough to reach. The high-pressure washer should stand securely on the ground while you work. Use the Bosch hose extension if the tool’s hose doesn’t give you enough room to manoeuvre.

When working on rain gutters above head height, it is easiest and most comfortable to use the Bosch 90° nozzle. It will enable you to remove leaves and dirt effortlessly without having to strain yourself.

Be careful when cleaning not to flush leaves and dirt into the drainpipe. It is best to flush in the opposite direction – away from the drainpipe – or to cover it up temporarily.

Cleaning a clogged drainpipe.

Is the drainpipe already clogged? Use the Bosch drain cleaner and feed the hose into the pipe manually. The nozzles on the front flush away the dirt. The hose’s flexibility means that it can even get through pipe bends with ease.

To prevent the downpipe from clogging again, you can cover it off after cleaning with a special sieve or mesh.

By the way: Homeowners are even legally obligated to clean their rain gutters. This is because a poorly cleaned or clogged gutter can in the worst case scenario cause damage to the facade or other costly water damage to the building.

Enjoy your clean gutters!

Car care.

How to wash your car yourself.

Not only your home and garden, but also your car is more enjoyable when it’s clean and tidy. Especially the car’s paintwork which has many natural enemies: bird droppings, mud, dust, pollen and road salt give it a hard time. But who wants to go to the car wash all the time?

We recommend the following for cleaning your car:

Car care.

Remove coarse dirt.

Are you allowed to wash your car on your property or not? The rules may differ depending on where you live. As a general rule: Fuel and lubricant residues can get into the ground surface even if you wash with clear water. You should therefore make sure that the surface under the car is sufficiently paved or surfaced so that wastewater is channelled off into the sewers.

OK, ready to go? Then let’s go: Are all windows and the roof closed? If so, then first remove the coarse dirt with a fan jet.

When doing so, keep a sufficient distance away from the paintwork so that you don’t damage it – a distance of at least 20 cm is recommended. Then work your way carefully to the areas you want to clean.

Never hold the jet perpendicular to the surface – regardless of whether you are cleaning wheel rims, windows or paintwork. A shallower jet angle is gentler.

Rinse in long lines horizontally to the surface you are cleaning – back and forth.

Caution: Never aim the fan jet directly at soft parts such as tyres or rubber seals. The rubber can become brittle, which can be dangerous on tyres.

Then spray clean to finish.

After coarse cleaning you can use the Bosch high-pressure nozzle for detergents to apply a special car shampoo. Please also observe the environmental protection regulations in your country and the cleaning instructions provided by the shampoo manufacturer.

Then you can gently brush the car using the Bosch wash brush to thoroughly clean it. Rinse off the suds afterwards with clear water.

Important: Do not subject your car to a temperature shock in the cold of winter or the heat of summer by applying water that is too hot or too cold – it could cause micro-cracks to form in the paintwork and on the window panes.

Once you have finished washing, you can polish off water and limescale stains using an absorbent shammy. Enjoy your clean car!
