Bosch’s first UK silent auction has raised an impressive £4,980.72, which is to be split evenly between Children in Need and The Lymphoma Research Trust. Members of staff from the Lawn & Garden, DIY, Measuring Tools, Dremel and other Power Tools divisions united to make use of unused stock, and raise funds for two very important causes.
Over 150 Bosch employees took part in the silent auction, which gave them a chance to snap up a bargin by submitting closed bids on old and unused surplus products. Joao Barufi, Regional Brand Manager for UK and Ireland at Bosch Lawn and Garden commented, “This is a great achievement for Bosch Power Tools. A fantastic way to take advantage of old stock, otherwise destined to be scrapped, whilst also being able to donate to these great charities - both of which were chosen by our staff and are very important to us.“
Though Bosch partakes in charitable excercises whenever possible, this is the first auction of its kind in the UK and it certainly won’t be the last. Mr Barufi continued, “Everything we scrap is recycled, of course, but there is something special about giving what you have a second lease of life, as evidenced by the current upcycling trend. We hope our auction inspires others to do similar things for charity.“
